• Remanufactured cartridges are essentially reused cartridges. They are empty cartridges that have been collected, inspected, cleaned and rebuilt. The process and materials used differs by manufacturer with varying results in quality and page yields.
• Reuse is superior to recycling in that it does not use non-renewable resources to breakdown plastic and metal.
• It is estimated that 100 million laser printer cartridges and 400 million inkjet printer cartridges are produced each year. Remanufacturing these 500 million cartridges will save an estimated four million cubic feet of landfill space.

Where can I recycle my empties?

Many community groups offer recycling opportunities for used cartridges (i.e. schools, various non-profit organizations, etc). Utilizing such groups is an excellent way to keep cartridges out of landfills while helping a good cause.

When recycling empty printer cartridges, taking the time to properly package the cartridges will maximize the green environmental benefit. Printer cartridges are considered damaged if the plastic cartridge is visibly cracked, chipped or missing key plastic tabs broken off during return shipment to the recycling center. If available, place all inkjets in original packaging before putting inside a collection container.
